Ardian Names Todd Wynn as New CEO at Skyline Renewables

Transition ushers in next phase of growth at Skyline and underscores the company’s commitment to building a leading North American renewables platform

Wynn, an energy industry veteran, brings more than 25 years of experience across the energy and renewables industry

New York and Portland, October 12, 2023Skyline Renewables, a leading independent North American renewables company, backed by Ardian, a world-leading private investment house, today announces the appointment of Todd Wynn as Chief Executive Officer. Wynn replaces interim CEO Tim Menzie, who moved from his Board position at Skyline in July 2023 after Martin Mugica stepped down.

This transition marks a new stage of growth for the company. Founded in 2018 and with support from Ardian’s Infrastructure team, Skyline Renewables has grown into a fully integrated renewables platform with approximately 1 GW of operating wind and solar assets and a 2 GW diversified development pipeline across the U.S.

With over 25 years of experience, Mr. Wynn is a highly respected leader in the energy and renewables industries. He has a long track record of success in partnering with financial and strategic shareholders to build leading renewables platforms. Mr. Wynn was formerly CEO at Hull Street Energy, a private equity firm focused on investing in the decarbonization of the power sector, where he built and led a team that managed a portfolio of 1,300 MW of generation. In this role, he also served as Chief Executive and sat on the Board of Directors of Central Rivers Power, a national hydroelectric firm, and Milepost Power, a national power generation firm.

Previously, Mr. Wynn was Vice President, Operations at Brookfield Renewable, one of the world’s largest publicly traded, pure-play renewable power platforms, where he built a team of nearly 150 employees and managed a 1,500 MW portfolio of hydroelectric and wind assets. He was also General Manager, Wind Operations at Enel Green Power, one of the world’s largest renewable energy owners, where he led the North American wind business, managing a 1,500 MW portfolio of wind energy assets. Mr. Wynn also previously served in the United States Navy, which greatly shaped his passion and affinity for executive leadership.

As part of this transition, Tim Menzie will stay on as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Skyline. Mr. Wynn and Olivia Genereux, Senior Investment Manager in the Infrastructure team at Ardian, will join the Board.

“We thank Tim for his leadership over these past few months as we continued to solidify Skyline’s position as a leading independent North American renewables company. When looking to identify the next CEO of Skyline, we conducted a comprehensive search for someone with exceptional leadership skills, deep industry expertise and an ability to foster a world-class culture. We are confident that Todd embodies all these qualities, and we are excited about what the future has in store for Skyline with Todd at the helm,” said Mark Voccola, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Infrastructure Americas, Ardian.

“Skyline is well positioned to take advantage of the unique market dynamics of the renewable energy sector. I look forward to joining the Board at Skyline as the company enters this new phase of growth,” said Olivia Genereux, Senior Investment Manager, Infrastructure, Ardian.

“It’s an honor to join the Skyline team. The market today is ripe with opportunities across the renewables space, from utility-scale solar and wind, to storage, hydroelectric and other renewable energy technologies. With Ardian’s support, we will continue to grow Skyline’s footprint and carry out our mission to promote a cleaner, more sustainable future,” said Todd Wynn, CEO, Skyline Renewables.

“Skyline is entering an exciting new growth chapter, propelled by the compelling market opportunities we are seeing in renewables today. Under Todd’s leadership, Skyline will continue to thrive and innovate in the renewable energy space,” said Tim Menzie, former interim CEO and current Chairman of the Board, Skyline Renewables.

Since Ardian launched its dedicated Americas infrastructure team in 2018, it has deployed more than US$1bn across the energy, telecommunications and transportation sectors. It also grew the headcount of Ardian’s Americas infrastructure investment team to 14. It invests in high-quality, mid-market essential infrastructure assets.
